What's Happening at Career Edge Organization

Summer is almost here and we've been busy putting talent to work and helping launch careers at Career Edge Organization.

We'd like to welcome the 258 individuals who have joined on as new interns so far this year. We're excited about the diverse backgrounds and skills they bring to their host organizations. We are also pleased to welcome 2 new host organizations who have recently hired their first Career Edge Organization interns: Bight Interactive Inc and The Brampton Board of Trade. These organizations are taking advantage of the skilled talent Career Edge Organization offers while providing meaningful work experiences to well deserving interns.

Integrating Diversity in the Workplace

As Canadian workplaces increasingly aim to reflect the diversity of the Canadian population and the communities in which they operate, it is increasingly necessary to address the importance of cultural integration to create a more inclusive and productive workforce. This is particularly pertinent given the economic forecast by Statistics Canada that by 2011 immigrants could account for 100% of Canada's net labour force growth. A diverse workforce will be better able to address the varied needs of different communities and compete better in the global economy. Skilled immigrants bring to Canada a wealth of experience and education that we cannot afford to underutilize.

Top 20 firms know value of immigrants
List highlights best employers for new Canadians

For CAE, a Montreal-based manufacturer of pilot simulation and modeling technologies, skilled immigrants are an invaluable source of talent and expertise, according to the company's vice-president of HR and administrative services.

"We do business in 80 different countries and we have employees who come from about 93 countries. That adds a lot of value to us because we can actually use them to help us understand their cultures and help us interact and do business in these countries," said Michel Lussier.

The company, with 3,400 Canadian employees and 2,600 worldwide, recognizes foreign credentials and experience, with the motto of attracting the best talent wherever they're from, said Lussier.
